Rabbi Sclesinger

Rabbi Larry Schlesinger received his BA in Religion from the George Washington University in 1973, and his MA in Hebrew Literature in 1976, Rabbinic Ordination in 1978, and his degree of Doctor of Divinity in 2003 from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City.  Rabbi Schlesinger has served as a visiting professor of Biblical Hebrew at LaGrange College, and as a visiting professor of Jewish History at Syracuse University.  In June 2017, he retired from the role of spiritual leader of Temple Beth Israel in downtown Macon, and became Rabbi Emeritus of the congregation. He still serves actively in local Bibb County politics and is the President Pro Tempore of the Macon City Council.
