As we enter our second Passover of the pandemic, this has been a year of loss on many levels: this year has made mourners of all of us. Come spend a few moments in front of our Open Ark (our portable Ark will be outside). Whether you feel moved to come spend a few moments with the Torah to share prayers in your own heart or want to mark this moment of Yizkor in mourning and honoring the death of a loved one, please come Temple Beth Israel’s parking lot for an Open Ark experience to feed the senses.
HEAR: Instrumental music played in the background.
FEEL: Take a card (petichim) and write the name of the person or people you are mourning and place it in a repository to be buried
SMELL: Light a Yizkor candle and smell the melting wax as you remember
SEE: Spend time before the open ark in the presence of one of our Torahs
TASTE: Take a small bit of sweet candy as you depart our campus.
This will be a socially distanced, COVID-safe activity. We will be outside and one person or pod at a time in front of the ark.
